Yes, it is fully cooked! The abalone is gently cooked inside its sealed pouch during the sterilization process. It is completely safe to eat straight from the package, though we recommend gently warming it up to bring out its best texture and rich, savory juices.
What type of abalone do you grow?
Our abalone is Australian Tiger Abalone, bred from a male Greenlip and female Blacklip abalone, known for its delicate ocean flavour and firm, buttery texture.
Does it need to be refrigerated?
No. Retort abalone is shelf-stable and can be stored in a cool, dry place before opening. Once opened, refrigerate and consume within 2–3 days.
Are there any artificial preservatives added?
None at all. The high-pressure steam sterilisation eliminates the need for chemical preservatives, keeping the ingredient list clean and natural.
