Something really special is distilling between the coastal dunes of Port Fairy and the foothills of Budj Bim National Park. It's now available at the cellar door and its online store, local markets and possibly a bar near you.
Ocean Road Abalone Gin is the latest in a range of botanical gins produced by master distillers Michelle and Pieter Badenhorst at their Macarthur distillery, Suffoir Winery, Brewery and Distillery – one of the stops on the South West Tipple Trail.
Their distinctly coastal gin is created with tiger abalone shells, seaberry saltbush, sea parsley, dill, juniper, lemon-scented gum, lemon myrtle and Great Ocean Road sea salt for a mineral-rich spirit that instantly evokes the ocean.
We’re excited to share that Ocean Road Abalone gin quickly became a drawcard gin in an already impressive range that includes Just Another Lemon Tree Gin, Flockhart Sticky Chai Gin, Rooibos Gin, Sweet Smoke Rosemary Gin and Pinot Noir Gin. The abalone shell gin received high praise at recent Drink Victorian and Victorian Parliamentary showcases, and at the spring launch on Australian Gin Day 2025.
In addition to the gin offering, our collaboration has produced a ready-to-serve, platter-perfect gin-infused abalone, available in 200g and 100g packs.
Abalone lovers and gin lovers can find both at the cellar door (also an 18-acre farm with vines, farm animals and resident emus), the online store, and at the many markets Suffoir Winery, Brewery and Distillery pop up at.
We're licensed to sell the gin however you can find our gin essence-infused retort abalone at our online store too, or on-farm if you're joining a January tour.
(Gin essence-infused abalone may be a limited-edition or seasonal product, depending on demand!)
