About Roe's Abalone
Roe's Abalone (Haliotis roei) is a highly resilient, smaller abalone species that dominates the turbulent, high-energy intertidal reef platforms of Western Australia. It congregates in exceptionally high densities near Perth, where it relies on intense wave action to deliver its primary food source of drifting macroalgae. Because its shallow habitat makes it incredibly accessible to the public during low tides, it supports a vibrant, tightly regulated recreational wading fishery alongside a specialised commercial dive industry.
